FINE JEWELRY

Cartier

One of the world’s most prestigious brands, Cartier International SNC designs, manufactures, distributes and sells jewelry along with leather goods & watches. Synonymous with prosperity, opulence, grandeur and long associated with royalty, King Edward VII dubbed Cartier “the jeweler of kings and the king of jewelers.” Founded by Louis-François Cartier in Paris in 1847, the company is now a wholly owned subsidiary of the Swiss Richemont Group.

Among Cartier’s most renowned creations (and one of the world’s most sought after pieces of jewelry) is the LOVE bracelet. Crafted in yellow, rose and white gold variations, its binding closure and screw motif represent love, commitment and permanence.

Another emblematic bracelet style, Juste un Clou launched in 1971 at Cartier New York. Literally translating to “just a nail,” it returned in the 2000s in yellow, rose and white gold as well as paved and non-paved iterations. Today, Juste Un Clou has expanded into rings, brooches, necklaces and pendant earrings. As one of Cartier’s more modern, edgy creations, it has inspired a number of industrial-style pieces.

The iconic Panthère de Cartier collection made its debut in 1914. Artistic director Jeanne Toussaint revamped the brand’s imageimbuing a bold sense of power and grace into the collection by prominently featuring her aesthetic influence. Since the striking panther motif prevailed in Parisian home décor and fashion at the time, Panthère de Cartier emerged as an astute business decision, Today, it incorporates bracelets, brooches, rings, necklaces and watches; each style is rendered in yellow or white gold, and designed with or without diamonds and other precious stones.

Crafted with precision and intricate detailing, the panther head results in a true-to-life depiction. Cartier’s design ethos“not to imitate but to pay homage, to breathe life into the animal and bestow it with personality”—sets the brand apart. By capturing the true essence of the animal rather than its likeness, designers gain the artistic license to improviseyielding highly collectible fine jewelry.

Van Cleef & Arpels

Launched in 1896 by the Dutch diamond cutter Alfred Van Cleef and his father-in-law Salomon Arpels, French luxury jewelry company Van Cleef & Arpels remains headquartered in Paris today. The combination of exquisite craftsmanship and vibrant gemstones imparts coveted status to Van Cleef & Arpels within the fine jewelry industry. Acclaimed for its signature ethereal themes including nature and cultural influences, the brand is renowned for its whimsical, decorative designs and unsurpassed value for collectors. Van Cleef & Arpels’ most celebrated devotees have included Princess Grace of Monaco, Princess Diana, the Duchess of Windsor and Elizabeth Taylor.

Launched in 1968, Van Cleef & Arpels’ Alhambra® jewelry collection features a four-leaf clover theme that signifies prosperity. Jacques Arpels, a nephew of the founding couple, would often pick four-leaf clovers in his garden–passing them along to employees as good luck charms. Designed with an array of natural materials, each Alhambra® style features a linear composition and beaded embellishment. Today, categories include bracelets, necklaces, earrings and watches. As the most famous component of Van Cleef & Arpels’ creations, Alhambra® stands out as the best investment.
